Other-worldliness at Knepp Castle
Knepp Castle is a Gothic Revival mansion designed by John Nash.
Our brief here was to provide an installion for an event at Knepp in the beautiful circular stairwell which would give a ‘relaxing sense of other-worldliness’.
We came up with a spiral installation suspending six Trinity lampshades – which echoed the spiral created by the handrail. Trinity’s design resembles a celestial body and imparts an other-worldliness and sense of relaxation through its warm and diffuse glow. The use of a sharp point LED bulb projected lines of light through the gaps between the veneer and onto the stairwell walls (see picture). This gave an underwater feel.
